Kirtling and Upend, historic Cambridgeshire villages
Kirtling village tea

2:45 pm. For once I’d arrived in good time! At first I thought I’d got the wrong day. The village hall looked closed up and in darkness. Then cars starting arriving - Doug, Tricia and Penny, Ron and Muriel...

And so the villagers of Kirtling came in their numbers to spend an hour having tea and a chat - a very British pastime. But how many villages can say in these busy modern times that over 20 of their community has got together to be neighbourly?

A very enjoyable time was had by all, and we all thank those who contributed the wonderful food which was in abundance.

We were all delighted to welcome Ron Hunwicks and his wife Muriel back to Kirtling. We thank them for coming all the way over here to be with us when the painting of Ron’s Lancaster by Roy Howe - complete with the names of all the crew - was hung in pride of place in the hall.

Here are some photos to help us remember the event. Thanks to everyone for coming - please come again: the village tea is on the third Thursday of each month at 2:45 pm.
