Kirtling and Upend, historic Cambridgeshire villages
The lost cottage in Upend

This fascinating old photograph of 1896 shows Mrs Sharpe and two others outside a cottage that used to be located in the chalkpit in Upend. The original had been folded and kept for many years stuffed in a hole in a bathroom wall to stop the draught! If anyone can shed any light on who the other people are or what happened to the cottage, please email the webmaster.
